Batavia seeking applicants for police chief
The Village of Batavia is taking applications for chief of police
Mayor John Thebout will accept letters of interest from qualified applicants until Nov. 30 2018, not later than 16:00 hours
Mayor Thebout said the village wants an officer with appropriate Ohio certification and at least three years of relevant supervisory experience.
The Batavia Police Department has five full-time officers including the chief and four part-time officers. The department has a canine unit with a trained canine officer.
Mayor Thebout said the chief needs to have strong command and managerial skills, including budgeting, and to be able to perform patrol as part of his duty and to back up other officers. The chief's primary duties are supervision and training, and he must be effective at recruiting officers as needed. The chief reports directly to the mayor.
The Village of Batavia, population about 1,500, is the county seat of Clermont County, population about 200,00. The Village is fiscally sound and has made significant investments in infrastructure and services in the past several years.
